Trap, I seriously cleaned up and put away all of my ice gear this morning. Josh and I would’ve been on open water down south with his boat, if, it didn’t get pinned behind two vehicles in storage. 😡 they get moved out first week in April....😎
Now you know why Duncan went wild when he got blocked in some time ago! :woot: :roflmao:

Yo Guys and Gals,

I managed to get out yesterday. Was supposed to meet up with a bud on Goose bay, but ended up fishing with a bunch of strangers (Not for long) from Boonville.
 Boggey
Glad you got out and stayed safe, JBog!!
Those Boonville Boys don’t know how lucky they were that you spared them from your vocal melodies! :woot: :roflmao:

The end is near but with this seasons weather I cant complain.  Still havent planked this season...

I must admit to a small disgression...I fished open water yesterday.  Hit a few trout in the river near home.  Water was quite cold!

it's  been a  great season    ,crazy weather  but we  got a  last minute  save , I have no complaints  I  fished  the  ice then open water then back on the ice, one thing I do notice  for last ice  it's not as  good (numbers  wise) as I hoped , to be honest I  am  doing better in the open water , I  think i'm  just  going to  chase  the  fish  where I can  row .only because  the  open water is  really starting to heat up ...... you all just  stay  safe

I can remember fishing when the water on the ice was running down the hole like water going down a drain. Black film circling around in the hole AND the perch were big and biting...maybe you guys will get a little of that action when it rains...but 50+ degrees and night temps above freezing doesn't sound good...watch yourselves!

Unfortunately I think that shore ice will go bad really fast this time. It is not good ice, it's more like frozen slush.

Sylvan might survive for a bit longer.

Be safe guys.

By the looks of the flag shown on the beach cam, that wind has been blowing hard out of the east south east today.

Biology. Yellow perch typically reach sexual maturity in 2–3 years for males and 3–4 years for females. They are iteroparous, spawning annually in the spring when water temperatures are between 2.0 and 18.6 °C (35.6–65.5 °F). Spawning is communal and typically occurs at night.

Freddie  brought this  to my  attention   so I  did  some reading .....this  gives  those  perch a pretty  wide  temp zone  to party at ,i'm beginning to  wonder if  in  some  areas  where  our  last ice   catch just isn't  as  good as  it  should  be  if  a lot of those  perch  did their  thing  when  it  was  65 degrees and  raining  3 inches a day

It seems like the perch in Oneida spawn right after the ice goes out.

Ever notice how some years the males are losing their sperm early? I have not seen that in a while on the ice at least. Last time I can remember it the temps got really warm and it rained hard in mid March. Water swhilring down the holes kind of rain.

reeleyz is right, never had my hole look like someone poured milk in it this year. I noticed the young males just starting to stage a few weeks ago, no girls showed for the party. My bud found them in shallower next to the weeds that day. Again that was a few weeks ago, and I can't get to the spot safely now. My guess is the limo is pulling up to the mansion loaded with the hot chicks soon. Now the ice can leave fast please so I can give them a ride home in the Lund.

Nice catch F&R! Way to stay on 'em...
