Just saw on Syracuse craiglist somebody selling fresh local perch and gill fillets....wonder how long that one will be up.

Probably until he's sold out!  ;D

How is the ice for snowmobiles? Is there any snow or crust for the scratchers to keep the sliders lubricated or snow for getting on/off the ice?

BART parking lots are bare and there is no snow on the ice ,
Went out with my bud John today, we had a nice day ,caught a few perch
, and we each kept a limit of eyes

Fillet , with that distance of spacing between your holes can you see your lure on your depth finder from either hole?  I imagine its yes but wondered. Thanks .

Nice fish right there! That ice in your shanty looks pretty good for the scratcher to dig into...

Yes dog I can see my jigs right down to a mud bug with that spacing  , I could space them out farther , I only had the sensitivity at 2
It goes to 20

I’m sure they would , I just make up a little solution for the slides and go slow with no trouble

Nice fish Fred!! That one tank must be about 25” gauging by the 8” holes you drilled!

Buckeyes vs fat heads, I hate buckeyes as they are tough to keep alive but they seem to catch more eyes. Anybody use only fat heads and have success

We pretty much just use fatheads and keeping them alive for 10 days is pretty simple just change out their water a few times and using an aerator helps. Also, keeping them cold helps.

Made it out today... not Oneida. Managed a 20” eye and 12 perch. My son managed 12 perch as well. Dumped a lot of light biting walleye today. Lots of marks, no biters. Seems to be the story on Oneida too. We’ll be at them again next week.

Buckeyes have a harder (more bony) head that I have found keeps them on the jigging raps treble hook better than the softer head of the fatheads. I have had more fathead heads stolen by light biters. Just a small difference but makes life more enjoyable when it is real cold out and you don't have to re-bait as often.

Well guys don’t forget your creepers,  Oneida and a few others are really slick , if you don’t have any now would be a good time to invest in a pair , there pretty cheap compared to a busted arz  , I did see a few without them doing the he ice shuffle

Had 2 firsts for me Friday....Drove up to Otsego Lake for the first time ever ....and caught my first ever lake trout through the ice .
It was a blast and nice change of pace.........not a lot of marks , but managed to fool 2 of them.

It is funny how these deep cold water summer dogs can be so damn frisky and become winter stars  come ice season !
Can't wait to chase them again.
Beautiful lake .

They were a lot of fun...really enjoyed catching them reeleyz.
Seeing Your ice laker pictures, along with Freds, Snags and the Lake George guy's posts the last few years, was the motivation to try it....sure glad I did.

KP...and anyone that has not tried laker fishing yet, .....definitely worth the effort....and a nice change of pace .

Nice fish guys. Decided to give Oneida a break and hit some smaller waters. Had to work for the fish but found a few perch for a fry.
