It's gellin now. The snow is slowing it up in maple Bay and we got ice on the shore and the better part of the bay is trying to freeze now. By the time it stops snowing it should have some ice and I think it's gonna be a banner year compared to the ice of late

I was passing thru near dark, canal looks froze, Schiebells and Marion Manor were froze out about 100' from shore. This was just a quick glance at dark. Looks like it could freeze soon.

Question for you gentleman who have fished Oneida a lot more than I have, do you think that Big Bay will have good ice by the 30th? Friend and I were hoping to hit it up that day and neither of us lives close. I'm well aware that the best way to see if ice is good is to check for myself, I'm not new to this but that's not an option. Thanks in advance, stay safe this season and tight lines.

hard  to guess  2 weeks  ahead  I would  think it  would be good but your  best bet is to  just  watch  the thread  for  more info ... or you can always  call  some  area  bait shops

Just talked to a friend who lives on Big Bay where I park my truck NO ICE!!  not sure if it's skimmed over or not' but they have well over a foot of snow so we need some more cold to even consider fishing NYs weekend. I want to go as much as anyone but be patient & be safe

Hit some small water today and only 2.5 - 3" of good black ice but 3" of snow also! Had a yoyo walk out to me with nothing but a beer in his hand! I stopped him from getting to close to me and told him he was a brave man. I told him last Friday I checked this ice out and it was froze here but where he came from was open water, so my best guess is there probably is only 2" where you got on. He said he heard a crack but thought it was normal? Wow!

Thanks for the replies guys, I planned on watching the conditions and checking here but just thought I'd ask what you all thought. And as for the gas pockets I'll definitely have the spud, deal with them on the North End of Honeoye, they are no joke.
