I've never fished it, but having checked a few Internet sites (including the CT Fish and Wildlife one), Hopewell Pond does indeed appear to be a decent pike fishery.

Good luck if you try it, Papa Sly!

Good bass and crappie too. Its like a river/ lake. I camp there and go out in the kayak fishing. Never ice fished it. It would have to be cold to get good ice its near the ocean near Norwich CT. I have heard of people going out in kayaks to get on it.

I used to camp and fish there a lot when I was a kid.  Decent bass and crappie, and a lot of bullhead at night.  Never caught any pike, but I wasn't particularly looking for them.

I've gone and checked it a couple times in the past few years and all I ever found was open water. Not sure the ocean has anything to do with it all the way in Norwich, moving water keeps it open, Pachaug down the road freezes much sooner.

I don't think you could pick a slower paced pike fishery to fish.  Better off going to Holland closer to you and that one is slow af.

I've had good luck fishing there for pike. Walk out of the small cove on the right of the beach area off of route 201. Beware of the current on that turn if you want to go across to the point.

Hopeville is basically a river. Lots of moving water makes it freeze unevenly. When there was ice around here a few years back, I remember hearing about a couple guys falling through when other local spots had plenty of ice. If it gets cold enough, I'd bet you can catch some pike  though. Most of the people I talk to while camping there in the summer say it's a good bass fishery. I also think they stock it with channel cats.
