Title: JUMBO Bass & Crappie
Post by: saintonionis on Mar 04, 2018, 07:17 PM: Had an excellent day today after almost getting skunked on Saturday fishing for trout. Ended up catching and releasing one good size rainbow after fishing for 8 hours in relentless 25 plus mph winds. Decided to switch things up for a little more action considering this was our last weekend ice fishing since we’ll be on vacation for the rest of March. My best fish caught was a big football sized crappie But the best fish of the day was miraculously pulled through the ice by my girlfriend. It was her first largemouth bass she has ever caught and it ended up being a little under 24 inches and little under 8 lbs. This fish was so big it got stuck coming out of the 8inch hole (luckily). The hook came free from all the tension but I was able to lunge down and grab it by the lips and pull it out of the hole before it submarined back down. The big boy was safely released back into the lake to get bigger. Other fish caught were one 5 lb bass about three 4-4.5 lb bass and a couple in the 3 lb range.

Haha maybe so but I can guarantee you that the first largemouth bass you ever caught wasn’t an 8 pounder!!

I've been told that a few times but a very nice looking lady catching her first bass which is 24", just under 8 lbs is awesome. :clap:
