Nikwax or SnoSeal for leather gloves

I have a few pair of cowhide leather gloves from Wells Lamont that I use for outdoor work and sometimes come with ice fishing.  I also have a similar pair that is uninsulated that I use for summer yard work (etc).  I was thinking about putting some type of waterproofing on them.  Did a little reading, seems like Nikwax for leather of Sno Seal.  Any others?  A concern is making the leather overly slippery (palm, fingers).  Some say Sno Seal decreases breath-ability while Nikwax doesn't.  Thinking about Sno Seal on a pair of insulated and Nikwax on the uninsulated pair.  Thoughts?

Spend your money on a pair of Gore-tex/thinsulate gloves.  They are cheap, last forever and you don't have to worry how and if they will work.

It's my opinion, across the board, that you're backin' up if you try to jury rig old technology to perform like modern technology...

I have Fish Monkey gloves and many others, so the leather aren't my main ice gloves by any means.  More when shoveling quick, maybe fishing from the truck and drilling holes, etc...

Sno Seal will kinda plug the breathability up. Never tried Nikwax. I have a lot of leather gloves, dress, driving, work gloves. I use spray silicone leather water repellant on 'em, after giving a good going over with saddle soap....that's what keeps 'em in shape and helps 'em repel water.

Obenaufs also comes in an oil.  Nor-V-Gen shoe oil is another option both paste and oil.  Both on Amazon.

Why should we avoid mink oil the product is made to water proof leather items

 A old trick i was taught a long time ago is to put your leather gloves on use a new wax ring you would buy for a toilet, only need part of it , rub the wax into the leather all over, the gloves will be water proof for a long time and the palms will rub the excess off in no time with use.
Cheap and easy to renew with just one ring.

My profession is a Union Laborer. I wear gloves at least 98% of the time when working. When leather gloves get soaking wet, they shrink and get hard when they dry. A couple of years ago I started rubbing saddle soap into the soaked gloves to try to save them. It does more than save them. They stay soft and they are SO comfortable to wear. In fact, they are so comfortable that I put off replacing them with new gloves until I have worn holes in them.

Bear fat is my first choice of leather conditioners. If I fail at bear hunting my second choice is mink oil.
