It's a skill not many can master.  I caught the biggest fish of the day while grilling those sausages with a Schooley rod.  Not too involved occasionally flipping dogs and sausages!

Dogs and sausages are just a quick shake of the pan every few minutes. not bad at all. plus the fish seem to hear the dinner bell too. always seem to have some excitement go on while trying to whip up my meal

For me it's a sandwhich of some sort that I may or may not eat.  Jerky or those Dukes Smoked Shorty Sausages are great.  But half the time I never eat.

Coffee with Baileys and Dr. Pepper with bourbon round out my beverage choices.  No beer here because you can't have alcohol in our state parks.  But what they don't know is in that bottle of Dr. Pepper won't hurt them.
My Setup:  Otter XL sled on a smitty.  10" Strikemaster Lithium 50 Volt auger.  Clam Bigfoot XL 2000 hub.  Garmin Striker 5 Ice Bundle.

The best days are when you're slamming the fish and can't even stop for a smoke break.   lol.

Recently got a lacko rack to put a can of soup or something on, fixed some tacos, wrapped them in foil and froze them, hoping to try heating them up on it to see how they are. I usually just do a lunch meat sandwich and a bag of chips. I do like using a thermos of chili from time to time as well.

If you wait till you get home chili, meatball subs, hot chocolate, warming you up feels as good as when you show up in front of people who have been there for ours catching nothing and you start catching fish after fish

Venison jerky and cigars.  Probably some cinnamon beverage as well.  If ‘serious’ fishing day I’ll wrap an Italian sub and put on the heater.  If a bunch of guys and I feel like taking a break mid day I like to cook up burgers and brats. Generally too busy fishing.

I've upgraded to a hard side shanty with a wood stove... Fresh brewed coffee and steak tips and rice are the standard now
No left handers because the local warden is a dink about it.... Still pissed about paying $124 AND getting a lecture.....
Vermont and Maine don't care so I can always go there if I really want to go lefty

My dad sent me a pack of venison Landjaeger sausages from Bavaria Sausage in Fitchburg, WI, I pair that with a bar of Hudson Bay bread we used to eat on canoe trips in the boundary waters and northern WI. Kind of jealous of all you guys eating hot food, but I have to drive 2 hours each way in the dark, so I am outside fishing every minute I can from sunup to sundown. My only luxury is a Zojirushi mug of coffee- I can brew at 6AM and it is still hot at 4 PM.

You have it made.  I'd love to fish in a permanent hut.

Beany Weenie!  Luv that stuff- ;D

Put a big can of good baked beans in a glass casserole dish.
Get a pack of good hot dogs sliced lengthwise but not all the way thru.
Stick pieces of cheddar cheese in the hot dog slits.
Lay hot dogs on top of beans and bake at 350 for like 45 minutes.

To die for- ;)

Don’t need a permanent shanty to cook up a storm on the ice

Sardines (in olive oil) on saltine crackers.  Always makes me think of the good times growing up ice fishing for smelt with Grampa.

MumbleSEED I have a grill similar to your's but it has a flat top, and folds around to make a wind break, easy to store.
