2009 Boysen Bash Pictures
« on: Jan 24, 2009, 03:00 PM »
Dogg drops a line, but keeps safe distance from pickup-eating pressure ridge at Fremont Bay Saturday

Wyohunter sets a tipup

FLAG!

Mooter Posse at Boysen L to R,  Wyohunter (Steve), Tom (Moot's Dad) Mooter (Joe), Doggbiter (Jeb), LT (Don)  ;D

Fishing was slow, Tom had a monster wally at the hole last night and couldn't close the deal. The ice was cool but the Irish coffee and gathering of eagles was pretty cool too.

Fishing was slow, but I guess I had the best hole ;D  Nothing on the tip-ups, everything came from the shack...on the jig rods

Ended up with 6 perch, the ling @ 28in.  and the 21in. slimer
Mooter his dad and wyohunter, left about noon. I got off about 2, it was 8degrees from sun-up till I left.
Had fun and enjoyed the company!

Hello from Shoshoni, I am glad that so many came and enjoyed the fishing no matter how slow it was.
I would like to post a picture, who can help me Please.
 I caught 5 walleyes and 2 ling.
These are the fish I caught for the local Ice derby at Boysen.
In order
7lb 8 oz
6 lb 12 oz
4 lb 13 oz
4 lb 4 oz
1 lb 12 oz

the long skinny ling was 6 oz out of the money.

I t was cold windy and I had a total of 9  bites in 51 hours on the Ice in 3 days but it was fun

I was on the north end of the lake. It was the only place I could find that looked good that wasn't already taken. turns out it wasn't very good anyway.

Looks like fun was had by all... I sure wish that I was there.  :'( :'( :'( .
After work on Saturday, I went out to Fontenelle and spent the night fishing for ling. Pretty slow fishing but a good time.

wish we could have gotten away from tough creek to go to the bash but we didnt make it.between 4 of us we caught 16 bows-4 perch-1 ling.fishing was a little slow for us but enough flags to keep our interest up,only kept these 4 trout for weighin.1-6 lb 1- 5.6 1-5.3 and 1-4.7.perch was all small but we weighed 1 in at 1.1 lb and it was in 2nd @ noon sunday when we left and the 6 lb trout was in 3rd place but I am sure we got bumped later that day.all and all what a great weekend.we finally get winter again and the ice we was on was great. It was 16" to 20".

The fishing was slow, but I had a great time at the Bash.  Met Wyohunter, Mooter, and LT at our camp.  Mooter shows up with a bottle of Whiskey, perfect way of introducing yourself to that group, Moot.  The next night, him and his dad came over and hung out(going to attemp to upload my first pic here).  We did have two nice size walleyes in the group, a 6lb 5 oz, and a 5lb 7oz., none I could claim.  I was told there were many other iceshanty members out there but not sure if I met any of the others - met alot of good folks this weekend.
that's mooter's dad sitting on the log to the right of the campfire
wishin I was ice fishin

Well I caught I caught my fish jigging and on tip-ups with minnows, on the south end in 18 feet of water.  They only bit in the early morning before 6 am.  I did not catch a fish or get a bite during the day time.
All the fish came  out of a 10 foot circle.  5 others fished around me but not at late hours and they never caught a fish.  I slept in my Eskimo 3 ice hut and fished about 18 hours per day.

Well thats just nuts olefish..Hard core for sure. If thats what a guy has to do to catch a wally or two I think I'll cash my poles in for BEER..None the less, nice fish and at least you will eat well for a few meals. Also ive come to the conclusion that I'll have to change my fishing standards, instead of heading out at 530 in the am Ibetter leave home at three in the am to hit the hot bite. ;)

My family thinks I am nuts, and maybe I am.  At high 50's in age maybe I should know better to.. My body does complain some but what if the state record eye came swimming by my ice hole and I was doing something like sleeping and drinking makes me go to sleep so I fish there for I am.

You did well. this was the slowest I have seen it ever.  My friend and I caught a cat apiece but could not get in the money.  Once again for me I catch them before the derby.  Good job and have a beer now!

Great Rainbows fishlord!

olefish, Congratulations those are some nice Walleyes. I have found the same thing in the winter eyes can be in a tight area,or should i say i think they more through certain tight spotsand they can be diffcult to locate. Nice fish for an old guy. :woot:
