i bet hes telling the truth it may look like a smaller one but he is holding it in towards his body unlike some other fisherman who try and make their catch look big by extending their arms as far out as possible

well , i am still looking for the pic with the bulka grips. i will post it when i come across it. never measured its length and as with all my fish she was released to swim another day. i also have a few pics i will post that were pretty incredable to me. especially a catfish on a tip-up that was even bigger.the cat fish was from my thigh down to the ground with his tail lying on the ice. like i said, i have to dig out some of my pics i have ,now that i know this can be done. thanks to whomever was kind enough to pull the bass pic over here to shanty. i know there was disbelief and uncertainty and not being able to show pics was feeding the fire. i have no need to tell stories because i have been doing this for a very long time now which left me with great memories and photos. thanks once again and more pics to follow once i dig them out.

Ill believe mike, he looks like a smaller guy ( no offense mike lol), crappieslayer...your arm is extended towards the camera, thus making your 6 look like a ten...Mikes arms arent extended barely at all...I dont get why everyone has to come on here and debate about someone elses fish because they dont think its as big as the poster says..

Yes it is a very nice fish, and I'm jealous that I haven't pulled one that size this winter, but when I see 10 lb LMB I would expect to see it caught in Texas or California not ice fishing in CT. I would believe it if it was hooked up to a digital scale, and not one of those cheap spring scales. I would say this fish weighs 6 give or take a lb. Pictures can be decieving(sp.), and I could be wrong, but I fish tournaments and see bass weighed every weekend during the open water season.

Its a nice fish, but no way its in the 10lb range. I've caught a 9lb largemouth out of ny, and it was just stupid big. Its belly was just sagging. And it was right around 24". Heres my 5lb largemouth from this winter, and I'm not extending my arms in the picture either.

I should also add I caught it while jigging smelt in shallow water, and that hardly came through a 6" hole, so I don't see a 10lb bass coming through.

Nice fish!!!
All this numbers stuff and trying to guess the weight from a picture??? All may be close, some not so close only true test is a scale.
The recent Maryland State record bass was caught in Jan.
Here are the stats
Length 241/4" long
19.5" girth
According to biologist, comparative weight/length charts show that this fish was very heavy for it's skeletal length.
This guy was fishing a tournament on the Potomac river and got the fish in 37° water. He is a pro bass fisher and said that he has caught several farm pond bass that were in the 23" to 24" range with weights varying from 7lbs to more then 8lbs. So to say that this guys fish ain't 10lbs???? Come on guys, its a great fish. Bass guys are so  competitive!
