They are fine and will work, experiment some days tip them with whole minnows and some days just the minnow heads.

Some days you are better off not tipping them at all.

I've never caught a fish on a chubby darter... Let alone a walleye....  :'(

Darters work for calling in aggressive fish,fliers for less aggressive/neutral fish.You can tip darter with a minnow head but it screws op the action slightly.Fliers work very well when tipped with bait.Hope this helps.
