Changes coming to the Marcum VX-1
« on: Aug 06, 2008, 10:53 AM »
The Marcum VX-1 will have some upgrades coming this year...

They will increase the power from 600 to 1000 watts peak to peak
It will get an upgrade in interference rejection from 6 steps to 12.
and it will come with a soft pack.
With these upgrades there will probably be an increase in the cost, but I don't have that information at this time.
The upgraded VX-1 should be available in October

This is only a guess on my part, but my guess would be between $30 and $50. Also, All Marcum products are still being made in the USA.

I bought a LX-3tc last Dec.  It started to go on the fritz in February, but I thought it might just be a bad battery connection.  Finally in April I had to send it back because it wasn't working.  I never got one back until almost August, and that was not the one that I bought.  They asked me if I would take a refurbished one because they were waiting for parts for mine and they did not know how long it would take.  I had planned on using it in open water on my boat and bought a trolling motor puck for it.  But most of the summer was wasted because I didn't have a working unit.  This whole ordeal left a sour taste in my mouth!   I plan to buy 3 units for Christmas presents for my sons this year.  NONE of them will be Marcum!

Mike,

I don't have a thing to do with Marcum but hang in there. Their product really is good and I, like everyone, was pretty shocked when they went of business.

Nature Vision probably has a lot more resources and this will all turn out better in the long run.

Don't blame you on having a bad taste in your mouth over the whole thing. I sure would too. That said, personally, I like the Marcum's better.

There are new Humminbirds coming out and some of the Lowrance Pro Staffers say they are going to unveil some new ice things shortly also.

you most likely didnt get one back soon because marcum was bought out and they seemed to have a ton of problems working out the merger

Marcum was purchased by Nature Vision for $750,000.00, this wasn't a merger, this was an acquisition(they are very different from the point of view of the acquired company).  Marcum will remain as a Nature Vision Brand.  The number of offerings in the Marcum product line has been greatly reduced.  Marcum is only producing 3 different cameras this year and they have eliminated the 360degree rotational line(which was the cats pajamas in my opinion).

Nature Vision stock has bottomed out(IMHO), they could easily be taken over by some other company.  With the shares outstanding and offering double the current stock price you could purchase the company for less than 5mil dollars!  I can't wait to see what happens with these guys.

Both actually!  Its always interesting to see how companies evolve.  And they produce products that are liked and used and there is no reason for them to disappear, so where they end up will be interesting!

this aquisition has a stron resemblance to another one I think.....when Kmart bought out sears......A great base company being bought out by a less than marvelous parent company......today Sears products area crap compared to the Craftsman brand of 10 years ago.....I wouldnt get your hopes up just yet.

Where did anyone say this? I don't think that will be happening but it would be nice... and he doesn't know how much it would cost obviously since nobody knows how much the new units will cost!

What I cant understand was why was it so bad to have a unit that was priced under $300. I love my vx-1 and was going to buy another one for a friend who doesnt fish much this christmas but not now. If someone can find a unit from last year I would love to know about it.

I have had a tough time finding any of the Marcum products in retail stores out here in Maine.
