Windy Winni
« on: Feb 03, 2023, 07:32 AM »
Well, we got the cold weather finally but unfortunately the wind at 35 mph will not let the lake freeze! Here's a video from this morning from my security cam on Welch...crazy!

Yeah, I have a feeling some bodies of water that just recently capped will open up with this wind.

Hopefully folks don't see much damage from the freezing spray when it really starts blowing.

Yeah, and I believe the pond hockey tournament starts today or tomorrow on Waukewan! Can you say frostbite!!  It's unfortunate because the tournament does generate a lot of money for the area businesses but with these temps and wind no spectators will be attending...

Safe bet no ones water skiing on the big pond today.

Alot of schools cancelled, but the pond hockey tournament  must ho on..kind of sad and bad stroke of luck for those that  enjoy it.

I'm 30 and I'm still young enough to remember when they didn't close school because it was going to be cold outside of the school's walls.

46, had to walk about a mile to and from school, they didn't cancel until it was too deep to trudge through.. I also used to walk to the very school that New Ipswich deemed to be a fire trap 10 years ago and closed, guess they didn't have fires before that lol...

I wasn't barefoot, my feet were wrapped in Wonder Bread bags!

But I can remember "sledding" on my Speed Racer lunch box down the sidewalk on a hill on my way to school in the 2nd grade.  I had it easy, it was only uphill on the way home.

Hate to admit it, but it was in Framingham, MA.  Didn't make it to NH until '72, don't hold it against me.

Good ole bread bags... one pair socks, then bread bags then the 2nd pair of socks... Good for a full day of sledding
