Plane, Trains and Automobiles @ Delta
« on: Mar 20, 2005, 09:17 AM »
Left WPG at 5:30am. Is there ever a time that a train doesn't go through Portage  ??? Once on the ice, I had to move around to find the fish ....drilled 6 deep holes b4 first bite  :flex:
Was out NW exactly 2.7 kms (odometer) (directly north of RED shanty). Kept about 15 jumbos (only released 2 small ones and 1 jumbo with a living oozing cyst on it...GROSS) 2 burbot (one @ 6lbs and 27 1/2 inches) plus 3 tulibees. Noticed you had to change presentation to get them biting. Lots of people out. Even had a plane land to visit Sled-In (I think that's who it was......formal introductions were not done  :-[ )
Just one pet peeve : People don't know how to park for those with trailers......too close to load back up on :cookoo:

The sun was blazing but the breeze was still biting

Burbot, Perch & Tulibee all caught on this dead stick soft bait  ;D

Very well done BI 8) 8) I have that same problem with trains in Portage. ;D ;D ;D I agree with the way people park thier vehicles/trailers at delta. Next year I am parking on the diversion. Great job on the burbot yesterday. Are you going out again this week. My season is now done. :'( :'( :'(
Enjoy life now!!!! Get on the Hardwater before it melts away!!!

Looks like you had a great day out there, I know how that wind can rip right through you. Did you take your atv out on delta? I was out about 3wks ago, but I walked, was unsure if I could get my atv out (honda 450S 4x4). How was the drive out, did you just drive on the packed ski doo trails? Thanks for the info.

Thanks BW  :) Noticed you hit 1000 posts milestone on that one.....
Yes SW, I did use the ATV and drove everywhere without any problem at all. The snow is about 1 foot deep but is hard packed and crusty. If it turns to slush then it my be a concern. Time is almost running out on this hardwater season  :'(

BI you will get to know me one day. I love kidding around. The only thing that would get me upset if you were an ignorant angler. I know that you are not by reading your posts. Besides revenge is sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. >:D >:D :angel :angel  ;) ;)

Nice job BI. looks like a great day. Hoping to go on Tuesday, hope they are still bitting.

Ya noticed the 1000 mile mark for BW too. But that 1000 sure did not stick aroung long. And getting hits from a Big Walleye, are sounding less and less appealing all the time.  :flex: But  I bet a 6'4" walleye would probably be a world record.  :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

Hey Tholl I was just thinking that a small plane would be a dandy ice fishin machine. I got to get up a ge real soon. Its been about 5 month since I flew. Don't want to write the test again.

Hey BI, sorry about the lack of introductions. My friend and I never really hit a hard bite, we didn't have much action, so as soon as my father-inlaw left we headed to your old holes, we caught only out of those holes, we drilled three more and only got nibbles.

TK, I would be just alittle scared to use the plane to land on unknown lakes, it is just the slush, I have heard storys and had my own experices, brrrrrrrrr.

I will try to sit down and write out the whole story of that day with the slush from hell.
