Rain, Rain Go Away!
« on: Dec 25, 2018, 10:02 AM »
Not liking this upcoming forecast for portions of Iowa/Neb. Rain forecasted Wed afternoon/evening into Thursday--and some areas heavy rain (over an inch or so). Will definitely do a bad number to remaining ice on several bodies of water if this happens. Rain is worst thing to ice as it honeycombs it--weakening it! Go away rain, let us fish! Not a good Xmas gift of forecast here in Iowa!

Not good for sure, trying to decide what to do

I drove around Big Creek today, could not believe it but a guy was setup just from the Marina ramp

I was on North Prairie Lake in Cedar Falls today.  3.5 inches of ice with the shorelines getting thin and soft.
take care,

I have to stand by my prediction that we won't be doing any ice fishing in Linn County until well in to January.  >:(

Anyone been on the ice on any of the lakes located between Clear lake and Okobji? If so, how is the ice holding up in north central IA?

If you live in the southern half of Iowa and like to fish, get the boat out.  ;D

Pretty much all open water in Linn County this morning as the rain continues to fall.

Colder weather coming at New Year's. Hard to say if it will last long enough to make some good ice.
