Heavy Rain before the lakes freeze...what effect will this have on Ice fishing if any?

Good question Corso - I have a biologist friend down here that claims a lot of fall rain means poor ice fishing ???  Not sure of all the dynamics that goes into his conclusion but unfortunately he has been right so far............. quite a bit of rain this late fall for sure :(

I think that would depend on the time of year. We always get a lot of rain in the fall, but it 's in January that would concern me. It could super chill the water and make the fish less active. Also the high runoff from the streams and brooks could put more feed in the water. I wouldn't worry about the rain now. We need to fill things up after a dry summer.
