Little Ossipee derby
« on: Feb 12, 2018, 01:47 PM »
I'm seeing some conflicting information about this derby. Facebook says it's the 17th, maine.gov says it's the 18th. Both have different weigh-in locations and contacts...

Does anybody have any info? I've called the contacts but haven't heard back yet...

Thanks

I got call backs from both tournament directors last night.

There's 1 derby on 2/17/18 (this Saturday) to raise money for special needs children and adults. $15 to enter. Derby central will be at the boat launch off of Rt. 5. Because of the limited parking, they are providing a shuttle service to and from Massabesic Middle School just up the road once parking at the boat launch fills up. Derby runs from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.  There will be a coldwater species category as well as a bass category. There is an event flyer that can be found on facebook.

The other derby will be the following day and is smaller and more "casual" if you will. This is the one listed on the maine.gov website. Peter Roussin is the tournament director and he runs it out of his shanty located in the cove north of "the narrows".  He'll be selling tickets at his shanty all day Saturday and on Sunday morning. He's paying out 1st 2nd and 3rd with coldwater species taking precedent over all others. 100% of the money will go back to payouts. Derby runs from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
