Nice catch and good eating.  Ding

Give a man a fish,  he eats for a day.
Teach a man to fish,  he sits all day on the ice drinking beer.

The ice is beginning to get kinda iffy,There are a lot of holes showing up with open water. Most of these holes are in where there is methane leaking from the bottom of the lake.It has thawed enough to create a lot of gumbo mud where You have to get onto the shore lines to avoid the pressure ridges. When We went in Friday afternoon the Hell Creek was flowing and pushing in a lot of muddy water. :'(

Here's the story.  It's a dangerous lake.  We seen an old guy go through a few weeks ago. Luckily he was ok and it was not a problem getting his atv out.  Be calefull out there.

Wolf Point mayor dies when ATV goes through ice on Fort Peck Lake

By The Associated Press

WOLF POINT - Wolf Point Mayor Matt Golik died Sunday when his ATV went through the ice on Fort Peck Lake.

City Clerk Marlene Mahlum says Golik was ice fishing at the time.

City Attorney Jerry Schuster calls it a tremendous loss to the Wolf Point community.

The 59-year-old Golik was area manager for Montana-Dakota Utilities. He was appointed Wolf Point's mayor in 1989 when the mayor at the time resigned.

Golik was elected mayor in his own right in 2001 and re-elected in 2005.

I canceled My rooms that were reserved for this weekend.Snow and rain for Sat.and Sunday along with the methane pockets taking their toll it would not be worth it to take a cold bath and possibly more.
See Ya next year on the Peck. ;D  :woot:  8)

Mr Marty,

Thanks again for the info, this past weekend we got three pike all under 5lbs and a couple of good eater walleye.  I guess it slowed down the day we got there, but i am planning to head up this weekend and give er one last shot.  Thanks again!

Went out this past Sat. 15th, had the best day of the season up there.  Caught 7 pike ranging from 6-11lbs, and half a dozen walleyes 2-4 lbs.  We were running our 4 wheelers on the ice but it was starting to get really soft.  Heard it has really begun to break up since then and is now unsafe even to walk on to fish.  Going to hit some open water this weekend.

A bunch of new fishing territory will be avaliable on the Peck this winter. ;D
The water is up higher than it`s been in 15 or 20 years.
Unless the USACE decides to let a bunch out. ???

With all the flooding down south, I would think they would keep a little bit.  I hope so. It will make for some awesome spawning habitat all the flooded willows.  Have you seen this?
