what kind of bug
« on: Mar 12, 2013, 01:37 PM »
I caught some trout a little while back that were full of these. Most of the time they are full of scuds BUT never seen these before. Looks like a damsel  nymph BUT tail section is different. Sorry for the bad pic quality

????

It is definitely a dragonfly nymph. Did some experiments with them in college.

def..  dragon fly.   AKA killer perch bait, if they are allowed over there.

all the perch are full of those all winter long over here.  I collect them using a kick net.  I also use oak leaf grubs and caddis larve.

Pull up a blob of weeds from Georgetown and you will see a LOT of both these guys. Plus a lot of snails. Those dragon fly nymphs are just mean looking:) I'm afraid to touch them!
