Ice Auger carrier.
« on: Feb 21, 2009, 08:15 AM »
Well I have been building an ice auger carrier for two years in my mind.  Finally took a stab at it. Now I own a drill and a dremil and am no fabricator. Took it for a test run and worked great. I mounted it long ways so I could go through narrow spots to get into the back lakes. If I mounted it sideways it would get hung up.
The holder is supported by the tunnel. I have brackets mounted to the tunnel and legs which come down and pin in. This is removable for trialering.

That's a NICE setup Rat, good idea on the mounting. It would make quick work of that auger if a guy would slide between 2 trees on a trail if you mounted it sideways. The ingenuity of icefisherman never ceases to amaze me. Very good idea. By the way that's a nice setup all around, wish I had something that nice. I'm still hoofin' it, got a sled but it's kind of a pain haulin' it so I just fish within walkin' distance ( which is not very far anymore)

That is one sweet setup. Is your flip-over the guide series? I have one and like it a lot. One day I may not like pulling the extra weight around the lake, but for now I love the room. Maybe you should consider going into the fab business, it looks like a professional job.

Yes it is a Trap Guide. Great as a one person but I hate pulling it in snow by hand.

I paid $500 for my first snowmobile and kept up grading from there. Think I have it the way I want it now. I could mount the auger higher and add some kind of storage box underneeth.

To come up with a good idea and follow through with it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,you are more of a fabricator than you give yourself credit.
Nice work.

Nice set up. Wish I had sleds with the extended tunnel. Where did you buy the hitch set-up. I was thinking about making one.

The trailer hitch or tounge is off my Equionox Trailboggan. I just added some brackets to my fishtrap so I can swith it back and forth. I added a kids crazy carpet as a slush guard.

I love the auger mount! I've been trying to decide between mounting the auger on the back of my sled or tying it in my Trailboggan, but seeing how simple and clean your mount is, I really like that idea. Good work!

I lay down a big moving blanket in my trailboggan. I find everything gets bounced around and damaged. I probally drive a bit too fast at times. The auger carrier is working out great so far.

Maybe you should bring that bad boy back to Quinte and try it here on the Ice again.
Did not remember seeing it here but than I remembered it was Pauls machine you were using.

FF  since we weren't traveling far we thought we only needed one snowmobile for that weekend. His is two up so it worked great. No snow around home for it these days. Guess we'll head north.
