Appleman
« on: Dec 13, 2008, 06:55 PM »
Is there anyone willing to give me any info about Appleman lake? A guy I work with mentioned it to me yesterday. He said he used to catch huge redear out of it in the summertime. I didn't know if it was worth trying on the ice. Thanks, zman

It is defenitly worth fishing through the ice.  I usually hit this lake hard in the winter and have caught some of those famous redears.  You'll have to wait untill there's better ice though.  I went up there today and there was only 2 inches of ice.  There were 3 guys out there but not me.  The lake was open up untill this past thursday.  A couple of more weeks and it should be good to go
I'm not getting skunked, I'm just eliminating water

A mile or two west of Prarie Heights High School and  about a mile south of State Road 20.

Also, just a bit of inof on it. It is a great panfish lake with better than average fish available, although it is a tough little bugger and you can find them literally anywhere in the lake for one end to the other. If you fins them or the bite is on it is worth the trip.

What Rufus said.  When the lock up they are locked!!  It's also a good clear lake to use the AquaVu on.  Nothing is more frustrating than watching a 10" gill pushing your bait around with his nose and not taking it!!!

Hack.
Tight lines everyone!

i think its on 100n between st rd. 3 and 1150 e.
There is only one theory about angling in which I have perfect confidence, and this is that the two words, least appropriate to any statement, about it, are the words "always" and "never."
