Jiffy Gas Auger
« on: Nov 23, 2003, 01:56 AM »
I have a Jiffy Lighting Bolt (Mavin Feldmann Signature Series).  I have owned it for around two years, but do to the above average warm winters , I haven't used it much.  So heres the question I noticed the other day that there was some play "wabble" where the auger meets the gear box.  Is this a problem, or is this normal? Can I fix it myself?

Thanks, Powder River

In my Strikemaster manual for my Gas auger, they state this wobble is normal! My guess is yes.

I just bought a jiffy last season and it also has a wabble. Thought there was a problem until I talked to others who own Jiffys and they said theirs did the same thing and they had them for years with no problems.

My Strike Master Lazer Mag is 6 years old it wobble from day one.
Its not your shaft out of your gear box, its the auger its self.
Dont worry about it will be okay :)

My jiffy is the same way. It's the conection between the auger and the power head. If it wear so tight as to not wobble you'd have a fit putting them together  :'(

I got a mag2000. One of my buddies was laughing about my cheap wobbling auger. I picked up his $425 Jiffy:it wobbles like a Weebull. He didnt say much after I pointed that out. They just wobble.
Every plastics manufacturer claims plastics outfish livebait. So now I use livebait just for the increased challenge.

Been using my jiffy 3.0 for the past 4yrs. And im with you, the 1st couple times out thought they sold me a piece of junk! Wobbling if memory serves me , manual says a little wobble is better than no wobble. Think`n I may need an extension-auger shaft ...Higgins lake roscommon co had over 30" of ice.

I believe the wobble is normal.  I have had my Strke Master for almost ten years and it has always done that.  I carry an allen wrench with me though and every now and then I tighten the bolt.

Bought my first Jiffy used in 1982 and used it till 2001 when I bought a new jiffy 3.0 and they both have a wobble. By the way when I bought my new Jiffy my nephew inherited the old one and still uses it.  ;)

My jiffy is hitting it's 20th birthday this year and still has that wabble you speak of.  In it's career I've only had to replace it's diaphram once.  Not bad !!  Good luck and be safe out there this season.
