I have had lots of contact with those parasites as well.  When I was young lac des isle, where I grew up had them in the perch.  We ate them all the time, the trouble I had was convincing my wife and child that it was okay to eat them.

Years ago we caught perch on the Churchill river and the perch were all full of the paricite .
When eating them it was like crunching grains of sand , threw them all out .

The perch at buffalo we do not experience that as the Pariisites are not as large .

They taste great ...

I have seen the parisite in perch at pasqua and echo worse than buffalo!!!!

What is with the speed demons on the lake?  We were out on Sat and we saw two different trucks blazing down the ice at speeds that should be reserved for pavement.  Do they not realize how dangerous that is - not only to themselves which is one thing, but the hazard they pose to other fishermen.

Can anyone help me out? I’ve had multiple times out ice fishing where I have caught one solitary perch or walleye. No other bites, no more action, just one and done. If they are mostly found in schools, what am I missing? Any advice?

Be patient, if you get some action in an area stay there.
They come and go , sometimes takes a half hour or so between action . 🎣...

Is it still ok to drive on at the provincial park boat launch?  Planning on going there tomorrow.

Thanks!

Got into a couple huge schools of jumbo perch on Saturday. As fast as we could pull them out all day. Lots of them were around 12". Also pulled up 3 white suckers. Anyone else catch many suckers this winter? Makes 5 for me now in the last 3 outings.

YoungGun96 if you had that kind of luck on the pound and that kinda size WHY would you not take another kick at the cat.
I mean I know what Long Lake can produce but you also know why it's nicknamed the Dead Sea, lol.
Can I ask what area on BP you were or is that sacred, and how were your perch for the black parasites if you don't mind me asking??

After 2 weekends of hammering big perch at the same spot, it's time to try for something different. I really want to try catching burbot and I was told the north end is the place to be so might as well try. Perch were so aggressive on BP they would inhale the hooks. 2/10 fish had tons of parasites the rest were fine. As for my spot well... middle of the lake

Those white suckers are surprisingly aggressive and a fun catch.  I've been catching more lately as well.
