Good snowfall today in Regina. Won't be long now!
-
The pound locked up today if the weather holds won’t be long
-
Any info on the ice thickness? Thinking about heading out from Regina this Saturday.
-
Siege why don’t you drive out for yourself and check, literally every post you have made is asking people to scout the lakes for you while offering nothing of value to this forum.
-
That is a terrible response the guy is just asking a simple question and you have to attack him like that shame on you man. ( you don’t have nothing nice to say don’t say anything at all).
-
haha coming from a lurker as his first post ::) thanks for all that you have "offered" to this forum!
just got off a smaller lake up here and only 4-5" ice, was surprised. with the warm temps coming i'd be cautious down south.
-
I was out last week and the ice was 9” with a good snow cover for walking. Was out on Tuesday of this week and still 9” with no snow cover , very slippery. Drilled from one side to other and all good ice .
-
Ya was rude for sure. Thanks guys I’m heading out Saturday I’ll let you know how it goes. Stay safe out there.

What the hell do you think this forum is for?

Report will be appreciated.
I know I'm waiting another couple weeks with the cool down until I head out, but I'll also have kids with me.

Didn’t make it out to Buffalo got a late start and decided to go to Regina Beach yesterday AND it’s a desert. Drilled probably 40-50 holes from 8’ out to 15’ saw nothing on the camera and only a couple small marks on the flasher that didn’t stick around. There’s a good 6-8” of solid ice. Next weekend I may take the extra time and get out to a different lake.

Somebody dragged a shack out on Buffalo and one corner fell through. Waaaaay too early for that crap boys.

Thought I should re-post this map I made last year about the hazards of the lake, entry points and landmark names.
Always looking for more to add to it.

I wish more people would exercise common sense.
Also, thanks for posting that map! Much appreciated!
-
How is the ice doing? Anyone have an update? Thanks
-
Thinking of going Wed , can walk out at Lonys point or boat launch??? Or further down?🍺🎣
-
liteguy: I've added Loney's Point to the map, thanks for the heads up that it was missing!
-
I was out today and the ice is 11” thick.
-
where were you out by ? boat launch just south? or Loney's??
-
To the east at Buffalo ridge resort
-
sureshot: I added Buffalo Ridge Resort to the map, can you check that I have the pin in the right place? is there public vehicle access to the ice there?
-
You have the correct spot , yes there is vehicle access.
-
Was out on Friday got 10 keepers lots of little ones! Ice is about 11 inches out 300 to 400 yards. At Money's point .🎣🎣🐟🐟 after this week should be good to drive on😁?.
-
Can you drive on at loney's point ? How are the bites?
-
16 to 18 inches at Loneys. Lots of trucks and shacks.
Very few perch. I only saw ~ 4 in 2 hours. However 2 or 3 large walleye ~ 5 pounders and about an 8 lb pike on my camera screen.
The water seems clearer than other years. Good luck.
-
14" ice on the trout pond. No bites after 2 hours.
14" ice on the lake at Parkview, lots of cracks and bangs as vehicles move around.
No fish yet, 20 mins in.
Caught nothing after 2 hours.
-
Had some decent fishing today, 30 or so perch over 4 and a half hours and probably 10 of them were of decent size. I've been hearing things about a parasite in the fish that looks like little black dots in the meat if anyone has anymore information on those little parasites I'd love to here some more about it.
-
Those black spots are a parasitic trematode larval cyst. They are found in panfish, pike and other aquatic species. These parasites do no harm to the fish who are simply one of a number of hosts in the organism's life cycle. Cooking the fish destroys the larvae, and even if you ate the perch raw, you would not be affected by these parasites. Google Michigan State University and "What are those spots in my fish?" for more information.
I've eaten plenty like this and they taste as good as all the rest.
-
Thanks for the info speckspotter I'll give that article a read as well
-
I have had lots of contact with those parasites as well. When I was young lac des isle, where I grew up had them in the perch. We ate them all the time, the trouble I had was convincing my wife and child that it was okay to eat them.
-
Years ago we caught perch on the Churchill river and the perch were all full of the paricite .
When eating them it was like crunching grains of sand , threw them all out .
The perch at buffalo we do not experience that as the Pariisites are not as large .
They taste great ...
I have seen the parisite in perch at pasqua and echo worse than buffalo!!!!
-
What is with the speed demons on the lake? We were out on Sat and we saw two different trucks blazing down the ice at speeds that should be reserved for pavement. Do they not realize how dangerous that is - not only to themselves which is one thing, but the hazard they pose to other fishermen.
-
Can anyone help me out? I’ve had multiple times out ice fishing where I have caught one solitary perch or walleye. No other bites, no more action, just one and done. If they are mostly found in schools, what am I missing? Any advice?
-
Hello. Was fishing at loneys Jan 25. Me daughter and uncle. Started slow. Used meal worms then Perch eye. Ended up with 12 perch and 2 pike. I think we did ok with all the people fishing that day.
-
Be patient, if you get some action in an area stay there.
They come and go , sometimes takes a half hour or so between action . 🎣...

Is it still ok to drive on at the provincial park boat launch? Planning on going there tomorrow.
Thanks!

Got into a couple huge schools of jumbo perch on Saturday. As fast as we could pull them out all day. Lots of them were around 12". Also pulled up 3 white suckers. Anyone else catch many suckers this winter? Makes 5 for me now in the last 3 outings.
-
YoungGun96 if you had that kind of luck on the pound and that kinda size WHY would you not take another kick at the cat.
I mean I know what Long Lake can produce but you also know why it's nicknamed the Dead Sea, lol.
Can I ask what area on BP you were or is that sacred, and how were your perch for the black parasites if you don't mind me asking??

After 2 weekends of hammering big perch at the same spot, it's time to try for something different. I really want to try catching burbot and I was told the north end is the place to be so might as well try. Perch were so aggressive on BP they would inhale the hooks. 2/10 fish had tons of parasites the rest were fine. As for my spot well... middle of the lake

Those white suckers are surprisingly aggressive and a fun catch. I've been catching more lately as well.
