Ice on lakes around Syracuse area
« on: Dec 19, 2007, 10:32 AM »
Has anyone been out on any lakes or channels in Syracuse area. If so how much ice was out there? I would like to get out there but I need a good 4" before I step foot out there.

Fished enchanted hills today the ice is not great. The ice is layered frozen snow or melt on top then about 2.5 inches of better ice below. The depth of the channel where I fished was 4-5 feet. It was solid but, still kind of spooky.

I was going to try this weekend but with the snow I don't think so. I may have to wait until jan. to ever try it. Thanks for the feed back.

I was out from 1pm till 4pm today in search of good ice, I regret to say there isnt much out there. Tried some channels off webster lake 2-3 inches mostly frozen snow.  Looked out at tri-county and they are even worse. Enchanted hills area not to bad, like Teardrop said there is 2'' or so of froze snow on top but some of the channels have 3'' of good underneath it.  Seen lots of guys out, seems pretty solid.
