Just got back from Rhinelander - Minocqua area after 3 days of icefishing. Did OK on the walleye, kept 30 perch for two of us. released a bunch of pike & one 38" Tiger Musky.
We were fishing Squirrel Lake in 6' to 11' FOW. Tipups were best even for the perch, but did get some jigging with a #3 purple-redhead Jigging Rap with minnow head, also a 3/8oz Char Baby Zip lure & minnow head.
I hope this helps. Pat

I live anot to far away, Fish mostly the Minocqua area and around home. I didn't fish in the cold last weekend but did take an ATV ride to Alexander Flowage and watched the ice drags before the nasty winds kicked up.

I've been to Wisconsin 3 times and must say you are some of the best people in this great country. It reminds me of home but about 20 degs colder!

I grew up in Rhinelander on Boom lake. We usually went down to the Tomahawk area and fished walleyes on Lake Nokomis and the Willow Flowage. Boom lake is decent early/late ice for crappie and pike in Peggy Slough and Bass Lake. The problem with Boom lake is all the snowmobiles and cars driving around. Crescent lake is pretty good for walleyes and Goodyear lake out on Hwy K is pretty good for pike and panfish.
