I am looking for some type of an automatic battery or wind powered jigging device that I can attach to a tip up or a rod to use for short time periods as when tending a flag or playing cribbage. Is there such a thing available or does anyone have plans to make such a thing. ???
-
There is definately a tip up out there that jigs when the wind hits it, this guy I fish with every now and then has them I will have to call him and find out what they are called and whop makes them...
-
It's Called a Windlass Tip Up
-
There is also one called the Ice Jigging Buddy. I just bought one, haven't tried it yet though. :'(

Let's see........ What ya gotta do is get ya a generator or a twenty horse Honda gas motor, have a welding shop rig up a tripod on the end of which is an offset peg on a wheel.....etc,etc. Je**s Ch**st on a crutch, if you wanna play cribbage stay home, if you wanna jig, jig. Isn't there enough automated crap being lugged out onto the lakes now?
-
Hey jigstick, I can't play cribbage at home cause my wife won't let my looser buddies in the house and she won't let my dogs eat pickled herring and drink beer there either. ;D
-
2 dogs, might be time for a new wife.
-
Hey jigstick i think your wanted in the ((((THE GRUMPY OLD MEN SHANTY)))) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ::)
-
They kicked me out for being too grumpy!
-
the wife kick you to :o
-
naw, she's the one that inspires me to post these thought provoking missives. Now if I can only get her to leave my ice fishing gear alone.
-
Hey jigstick - believe it or not that contraption you're talking about already exists. It's an enclosed unit with a light bulb to keep the hole open and an offset cam arm that raises and drops the line to jig. It's got a standard tip-up style trip that signals a bite. If I'm not mistaken it's called a Finicky's Fish Factory or something like that. A buddy of mine won one at an ice tourney. The batteries last about 4 hours tops and the thing weighs about 10#. It saw the ice twice and has been sitting in his garage since.

If only his promotional people had been up to snuff he would undoubtedly be a rich man now. Maybe Ron Popeil would have been the way to go.
-
Bring along your kids to do the jigging for ya! ;D

I see those things at the shows here in St. Paul. There are a few guys who swear by them. I think they are on the company payroll though.
