I just got back from checking a couple local lakes and updated the info. Ice conditions are changing fast, but I was surprised to still see some open water. A couple lakes had open water yesterday, froze last night, and now has snow cover. Those are the dangererous ones. Nothing makes safe ice like a little snow to cover up the bad spots!!

I am betting the wind stunted the ice growth on some of these lakes. As cold as it's been I am guessing we should see some pretty good ice, especially G.R. and north. I do not get south of G.R. too often so I rely on scouting reports from some friends of mine for ice reports. All I know is I am hitting it this weekend and can't wait!
