Clare Area lakes
« on: Jan 13, 2019, 01:54 PM »
Looking to head up to the Clare area next weekend to get on some safe ice. Does anyone have safe ice reports or info. on lakes in the area? Thanks!

Several on Five Lake 2 days ago
I like to sit around on the ice doing nothing because my wife won't let me do it at home.

Walked off 6 inches near Farwell about 40 minutes ago. White ice for about 2 inches then clear ice for the rest. Most if not all areas are like that. I’d be cautious over any deep spots on large lakes or any water with/near current and spring fed lakes. I was on a small lake over 40 for water. Spring fed. Popping like crazy all over the place.

Given the trend of weather coming, most places should be more than ready to go by the weekend. Use a spud and your better judgment and you should be alright.
