Got plenty of craps but got distracted.

Man had to go back. Me ,Dan, Bro and Shoe went to eastern Barr for crappies. got plenty of those but they were tight lipped and brutally light bite.  Gave me a headache focusing!

So went a little deeper to find some toothy beasts and it worked out Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning caught eyes, cats, wipers, whites(lots of White bass fun but kinda a PITA)

I caught everything but the walleyes on my crappy rod using 4 lb floro and a tiny teardrop.

All the large fish went back. 

Lost some pig walleyes and such they either popped off or got me into the trees a couple times.

Gotta love it when you set the hook and the rod doesn't move as if its snagged on the bottom!

Those were nice eyes.  I stayed by the brush rather than go for the glory of eyes - see me sitting in the number 2 position on the ice...ha ha.  Here was my reward rather than walleye:

Man what great fish. I haven't caught a cat like that in decades. I miss going for huge blues in the tidal waters of the east coast, but the variety of fun game fish the Midwest offers still keeps me very excited. And I know I've only scratched the surface of what is within reach

I caught craps, gills, eyes, white bass, wipers, carp, shad and a drum!  Variety is good.

Called Adam the Park Ranger there and he said that the ice was gone .  Glad that I went there last weekend, didn't spent much time for walleyes but I did well on the craps, white and some big ass wipers.  Here is a small sample of the morning bite.

I was 99% sure there was no chance that was Barr State park but i had to risk looking like an idiot to confirm 
I saw the mention of Kansas and Brush piles and got suspicious. Like I said though, id be more upset if that kind of fishing was under my nose this whole time

We used to pound nice craps and perch at Barr many years ago.  Sadly it just hasn't come back.

That one is too close to town to not just get beat to death. Not to mention it's probably like most of the front range lakes with a flat muddy bottom and next to no structure

Yep and its irrigation water so constant draw downs and fish kills. As slayer mentioned, it can have its boom moments. 2015 was great at Barr for walleyes.

Colorado warm water fishing is quite poor, for this very reason.
