New member intro
« on: Dec 17, 2022, 11:43 PM »
Howdy Do y’all. Found the place doing a search for “ice fishing Wyoming”. I’ve lived in WY (Rawlins) for 3.5 years now. I’m 44, Ret. Mil and working for the state on another pension.
I’ve found a love for the cold and ice the last 2 years and finally have the gear I need to get it done. With the help of some fish of course.
Looking forward to reading what y’all have had to say about icy WY as I read through all the posts but wanted to drop an intro as well.

Welcome Brother - USAF Ret here.  Thank you for your service.  Nice folks hereabouts.  And don't put retirement off from your second career any longer than absolutely required.   ;D

Thank you all for the Welcome.
I think it may be easier if I used a laptop vs my phone for this site. It’s a bit rough to navigate.
I’m gonna try and hit up Seminoe Tuesday and see how things look. I’ve only fished High Savery and Pathfinder so far this year.
Fell through the ice at High Savery. Glad my 16 year old son was with me.
Plan to fish a couple derby’s this winter if not working. Kinda rough at times to hit weekend events working a 4 on 4 off revolving rotation.
My buddy sponsors most of the youth events at the various events.

Welcome! Besides falling through the ice at savery, how did it treat you. The thought of ice fishing that lake rolls around in my brain every season.

We marked a few and that was it. I called it a day after taking the swim. It was the only time I’d ever fished it. The roads too drifted in to get that far south before any fishable ice usually. I don’t have a snow mobile or a tracked vehicle to try it any other time after it freezes. Some big fish to be had in that lake and I want one! It’s also in a no live bait area as well.

No thanks needed for my service. IMHO the REAL thanks to all of those who never made it home.
