Tip Ups for Whitefish

Just curious if anyone uses tip ups for whitefish. I am new to the ice and really interested in trying to get into lake whitefish on Lake Champlain. If figured that if I had tip ups out it would increase my chances of getting into one if I were jigging.

Also, if you do use tip ups, what is the best rig?

We catch White fish in Atlantic Canada with Tip ups.. we use small Minnows as bait set 6 inches off the bottom set in about 40 ft of water.
