From what I've heard the real cold won't hit us until mid January.  :icefish:

we might be good for this w/e.  It dropped below freezing on Monday, so 5-6 days should be enough,,,then a warm up next week, ugh.

Hopefully we have some safe ice on Sunday, and the early ice spots are not overcrowded

I went to several spots today , as far as you can go in nj , 1 1/2” - 2” with some snow on it . Same places were open water on Sunday 1/14. All that rain & wind , not as thick as u would think .

was walking on water yesterday on a lake that usually has a uniform freeze....it was inconsistent with spots that were 1" right next to 3.5"....if you don't have a spud bar in your hand you are going to get wet this weekend...@$35 they are cheap insurance...todays snow will obscure any visual indicator....

Went and checked my local pond that normally freezes early...   barely 3 inches   Maybe if we get less snow it could be fishable come Sunday

Checked my local yesterday, had 4 inches. Heading out shortly. Just remember your boy scout poem
1" keep off
2" 1 may
3" small groups
4" OK.
Be safe guys.
So i jumped ship in Tibet..............
