The lake at Roosevelt park is stocked with trout twice a year, spring and fall. It's technically in Edison, but very close to the Menlo Park Mall on Route 1. You might want to try there if it's not starting to freeze yet. I was in Princeton today and some of the freshwater was already starting to freeze. If it's starting to freeze you will probably find water down near the dam. You can walk all the way around the lake in about 15 minutes.
From Woodbridge you'd take Route 1 South:
* Take exit for Grandview Avenue (after Menlo Park Mall)
* Bear right at the end of ramp
* Make first right into park
Good luck!
