Avid Ice Rods

Has anyone purchased and used the new St. Croix Ice rods?
If so how are they? I want to buy one and would like to know how they function on ice, not just at Cabelas!

Thanx,
Eric

I have a 8 weight and an 11 weight St. Croix fly rods and am impressed with how they perform as well as my more expensive rods.  They all come with unconditional lifetime guarantees too (not sure about their ice rods, but all in all, St. Croix makes good rods).  I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up.

Yeah I broke down and bought one for my self for Xmas(24" UL).  I have only caught a few small gills and perch on it, but I can say that it sure is sensitive!  I could feel the light "tap tap tap" of those five inch perch in 20 feet of water.  Works for me.  I think my berkley ice rods have more back bone though.   I'm heading out to the Mississippi to fish the backwaters in a couple of weeks.  I'll post more performance info then hopfully!

I bought 2 $29 ea. I have used mine 4 times and love them. I bought 1 UL and 1 ML. Put 2 Diawa 500T reels on them. Well balanced combo and sensitive to. I would highly recommend them. They are going fast in the IL area. One shop got 30 and gone in less than a week. The other shop that had them only had 8 left out of 30 when I got mine. They are selling fast so get them while you can.
