I've got all kinds of stuff. Some Cajun, Vicious, Stren, Sufix, PLine, and some Northland all on different rods. Have no problems catching fish with any of them...for what its worth.

Hands down, Power Pro. Have Landed more fish summer and winter with it than anything else. I like having no stretch in the line. That way I can feel the slightest bite.

I dig the no-stretch stuff like fireline.  Best for the deep water that I like to fish in.

Power Pro with flouro leaders
Jigging for perch I use 3lb. Power Pro Braid in red with a 3lb. Berkley flouro leader.  Also have used Fireline but the smoke and white colors were hard to see.

Can anyone tell me what the advantages of fluorocarbon besides being less noticeable to fish, have over Berkley XL or other monos?

Less stretch, sinks faster, retains less water.

Berkleyfireline micro ice crystal. Got it on 2 rods, one a frabil 241 36" combo, and an ul 24" spinning reel. Love the stuff. 3lb on both. Doesn't seem to ice up as much, and I've noticed stronger knots.

Agree. 2 lb Microice for me when it's deeper than 20'. So much easier to detect strike and set the hook when going deep.

Got some fireline crystal coming, been using cheapo basspro 4# flouro that's $2 a spool. Worked just fine. I don't use a shanty and it didn't freeze up so I'm happy. I'm curious why people would choose mono over flouro despite cost? I don't use mono for much these days. Expecting this fireline to be pretty good.

I never have liked the fireline.  It seemed to get stiff in the cold.

FIRELINE.  Its not a braid, its filament. 3 lb. No memory, freeze ups, coils, twist or tangles. Smallest SPRO barrel swivel. Two feet of flouro, ( 2-8 lb)  can be changed out per conditions/species.

??? Just wondering if when using 2 or 3# fire line you guys use a small swivel with a piece of mono or you tie directly to the bait use this method for lake erie to help bait from spinning use 8# fire line and 10# mono there didnt no if this would work with smaller line or hurt the presentation. Thanks

When I first started using fireline I always went swivel and flouro leader. Now I just tie directly and catch just as many fish. I do only use it in deeper water (+20'). I've gone back to mono and flouro when fishing shallow. Just like the feel of it over fireline shallow. Felt like I sometimes lost fish shallow on hooksets with fireline.
