Found a shack spot
« on: Dec 27, 2007, 08:28 AM »
Yesterday morning we woke up at 5:00 and were gone by 6:00. we arrived at our little honey hole on the red at approximetley 7:10 but moved about 10 yrds south and there was about a 7 foot hill that rose up from our previous spot.

Last time we caught great numbers in little time but this time we caught way bigger fish in a longer time. We lost two good fish about half way up but caught walleyes and saugers most ranging within 15 to 17 inches as opposed to most last time ranging from 8 to 12 inches. The biggest fish last trip was common for this trip. With the exeption of one or two small fish here and there.

The morning bite ended at about 8:45 and then I went searching for fish most if not all weren't willing to swim 2 feet to secure a meal but a new hole normally meant one or two fish right of the bat. Called her quits at about 2:00 with 18 fish 2 walleyes and 16 saugers. Deffinetley where the shacks going.....Tightlines.. ...

Where are you fishing near Jiffy?

I have been on the red four times from sugar to the steamplant to the locks without any success.

I don't expect details just an approximation.

Well J-Kap I guess I'll be a nice guy, cause I do want you to catch fish we were at Florida a mile off shore in a hole at about 150 feet deep, best bait is a makeral head on a size 7/0 hook....Good Luck.... :D :D

Nah just kidd'n were down by stu's (green jigs with the minnow hooked through the tail work the best :D ;)

Good to hear you got into them, Jiffy.  Sometimes even a short move to a new hole could make all the difference on the Red, the bottom is quite variable in spots.

Jiffy, on bosing day were you north of th eodl access road.  M

My wife and I hammered them around the first bend there last year.

Unfortunately, due to lack of a snowmobile and no road access, I am too lazy to walk that far.

One day.

Jeff
