Anyone else super bummed that the ice is shot with this warmup? I hope we get out in Feb here in NW Indiana but I wish we didn't have to stop fishing. I guess I'll have to do a little hunting but I already miss going out after work for the night crappie bite every other day.

looks like a repeat of the beginning of the season. get a little ice then snow on it and hang around the freezing mark. on top of that, its really hard for lakes to make ice this late in the season. yes, that all spells bummed.

Yes....Going to need some really cold air again because the days are getting longer and the sun angle is changing which makes for tougher conditions to make ice.

I've seen several large flocks of geese flying north this week....not good!

Don't get bummed. Get ready for open water. Don't stop fishin. The challenge of change is what makes it fun.

Sure is nice not shoveling snow though.

yep.....AWFUL!!!!
Here's my Jan. 2017 temps, I was able to get out on the 8th and 9th. Feels more like March than January.
I check the weather conditions on a few different sources multiple times every day and I'm thinking its over down here in the tropics!

Neat graph. I know your further south but the trend lines for us up here are the same. Even though our temps of late are colder they still are running much above the norm. Especially the low temps. Forecast for the next 14 days which is the time period we will need to have any real chance for wide spread solid ice doesn't look good. I'll give it another week before deciding whether to put equipment up.

Yep, I think I would agree. It doesn't look good for the southern half of the state. I launched my first bass boat years ago, the weekend after the boat show in Indy. Went to Lake Monroe and it was all open. I think this year is pretty much going to be the same.
