This time last year I was fishing on 3inches of ice in central MD.....  I just looked at the long term forecast for the rest of January....... It's not looking good.  No temps below 25.... THIS ISN'T GOOD.... Looks like I'll have to travel to New England to get my fix...

Still plenty of winter left, wouldn’t give up just yet. With the latest forecast, potentially may be something to stand on by next Sunday  ;D maybe

having ice on a pond or a lake is one thing.  Having safe fishable ice is another.  Hopefully Western MD will get the ice.  Cause it's not looking good for Greenbriar/Cunningham Falls State park.

Just checked the Deep Creek webcams and the coves are freezing over again ;D   Maybe by next weekend we will have safe ice.

the arctic air sure balked end of dec begining of jan. this arctic blast should catch the ice in many areas here. lets hope it holds.

Smaller ponds may be ok in the next couple of days as well if anyone fishes anything on the smaller side. My neighbors farm pond (no fish in it, but a good visual judge) locked up night before last and has right at 3” already he said.

Was on little pool Jan 22  couple small gills between us and other guys. Got out on Wed Jan 23 Blairs valley. Bunch of small gills yellow perch, one 15 inch bass and lost 2 other bigger fish, bass or trout.  Temps rose and rain we'd night thru thursday. Ice I'm sure took a beating. Next week artic cold blast so things are looking up.

UPDATE: Trout beware.... Season in central MD starts tomorrow....AT LEAST FOR ME..... 5-6inches on the local lake.... YAHOO!!!!!

10 inches all over Deep Creek this weekend. Gonna take a beating this week
