Jiffy Auger Question

(1/2) > >>

smeltshack:
I kind of inherited a jiffy auger Not sure what model it is but i know its at least 10-15 years old. My question is this. When my auger is idling and just sitting there on the stand it will continue to slowly spin. Is there anyway to correct this or is this just what they do?  I was wondering if the gear box needs a tune up?
Jiffy must be a good auger because that auger has sat in my mom's basement for about 3-4 years because i had moved out to Nebraska. Now i am back in Maine i emptied the old gas (yep 3-4 years old) and put new gas in. I pulled that baby maybe 6 times and she fired right up. Needless to say i was rather impressed!!!
If anyone has any suggestions on fixing the spin while idling let me know.
Have a great season everybody. :'( :'( :'(

Bob_D:
The clutch on those are set to enguage at a certain rpm. I'm guessing that your idle (low speed) is a little too high.

It just wants to make up for lost time.  ::)

Essox hit the nail on the head Just turn down the idle screw a little.

Sounds like my Jiffy Model 30. It's about 16 years old and going strong, starts on the first 4-5 pulls after sitting for 9 months. Esox is right, the adjustment did it for me. A new spark plug every year, and I'm ready to go. Enjoy it!
