Actually Marmish is probably a "knock off" of sorts similar to rods developed and used in europe. The Marmish is a little different than the other rods out there. They have used those little rods for many years across the pond.

I thought Marmish was the original. The Fiskas version says new on their site.

Nice to see some european connections on Iceshanty. Finnish products are well made.
I have tried the Fiskas and found them not as tough as the Marmish. I like to toss my rod down after I hooked a fish or if big one let it run. The fiskas woundn't stand up to the abuse. About the only thing it had over the Marmish as it was warmer in the palm when holding.

is there a significant difference between the basic marmish rod & pro tourney marmish rod they offer that someone can say from experience from using the 2? I know what they say on their website but its different when talking to an actual user of the product. They wouldn't offer the 2 if there wasn't.

Marmish is just a copy of proved east European an Russian design of winter fishing rods for micro jigs like marmyshka... It was invented in late 80's, early 90's. People used to make them themselves, now it's a mass production:)
Some examples of Russian rods

The Jonntu rod looks to be a very nice rod and only $20 also.
