There isn't any good fishing around Helena...  ;D

Just kidding.  Browse this board and you will get all kinds of ideas.

Basically you have
Lake Helena
Hauser
Canyon Ferry
Spring Meadow
Park Lake
Helena Regulating Reservoir
Holter Lake, Nevada Creek Reservoir and Newlan Creek are not too far.

I am probably missing something.  If you are just getting started, I would go to the causeway between Lake Helena and Hauser. It is on the east end of the Lincoln Road.  Lots of people fish there and most will be friendly enough to give you some tips.  There should also be lots of old holes if you do not have an auger. However, do not go close to the bridge or the east bank near the bridge.  The current flows through there real good and the ice is never as thick there as the rest of the lake.  The rest of the lake might have 12" of ice and it could be open water right there, so be carefull. Welcome aboard.

Try Spring Meadow, it has some nice keepers in it, the Regulating Reservoir has a lot in it they are just not big enough to keep.
