If it’s over that was a great season,at least for eyes. Only had a couple of slow days and had more all out slamfests than ever before.

Yesterday was one of the slow ones. Pretty steady action but lots of short eyes and 7-9” perch. Went 1/2 on keeper eyes and the one I iced went back cause she was near 23”.

Ended up taking home one of the 4 burbot I caught and 2 dozen perch. Had a great meal of burbot with melted butter and fresh fried perch for dinner.

This fatty isn’t the one I took home. Got lucky and kept a skinny male.

Nice to see you yesterday, Bruce. It was a nice day to be out even if the keepers weren’t easy to come by.

Looking at this weather it might be time to dust off the long rods and twister tails. Although if it doesn’t stop raining that bite will be blown out too.

Nice to see you too Chow, definitely a perfect day to be on the ice!

You had those burbot figured out and that is a really nice eye.

well done chow......thank goodness ice came early this year cause it is leaving early also.......now I just wish it will go bye bye really quick......got a feeling it will linger out there tantalizing us to jump on......oh well, it was a good season......used the machines more than most other years making it worth the registration fees......freezer stocked, friends freezers stocked......all good.....time to get neglected chores caught up on.....

Yup, we sure did have a good one compared to the last couple. I just plain hate the thought of 40 degrees and wet muddy crap with no ice for the next 2 months till it gets truly warm. Oh well, not much we can do but deal with it.

I agree Scout, this ice will linger for a while. Maybe beyond the walleye closer.

We got about 2 months in, not bad. The walleye bite was excellent but I think the perch got off easy again.

If you are only going to get out once in three years yesterday was the day.  Beautiful day, 29 perch, perfect walking conditions.  I forgot how Oneida turns on  and off. All 29 before 1pm, 0 from 1 to 4:30. Marked lots of fish all day, never had to move. You would think at least one out of the last 100 fish would bite. I was very rusty, missed a few early, dropped a 13"er down the hole. Also dropped brand new jig down hole taking it out of package. Sure was a blast getting back out there, and the fish were where I left them three years ago.

Jay and I fished the south shore launch yesterday. Sunnies were picky. Ended up with 30 and 5 Large pickerel that we normally throw back. Jay got some tips on how to get y bone out. The pile of fillets look good. We are making fish cakes out of them. The ice at the launch was shot at the end of the day. I dougt if you can get on without at least hip boots this morning.

heard from good source that they seen 2 guys on big bay yesterday about 100 yards out..................
fill your buckets with quality not quantity and enjoy the conversations over heard of how good a fisherman you are................... ....
