Anyone ever try fishing in Lakeport on S side? My Mother-in-law live there so I have a spot to park. Always wanted to give it a try.......

Any new reports on Lewis point? Has there been a lot machines out , we’re headed up for weekend to get some more teeth lol. Be safe guys and tight lines

I’m wondering the same thing, a buddy and I wanted to potentially try tomorrow, we would be on foot. Wondering how the shorelines held up.

I can attest that the lake is glare ice......only wacko out of Chapman this morning.......cleats are a must.......did pretty well considering the wind....ended up with 20 jacks.....all quality fish.......lake is perfect for wheelers although chains or studs would be better than not having them like me....no problems if you take your time

How thick is the ice now? We are planning to come up and fish if Oneida still has good ice.
Thanks in advance.

How is the ice for snowmobiles? Is there any snow or crust for the scratchers to keep the sliders lubricated or snow for getting on/off the ice?

I'm coming up to stay with a friend who lives close to apps. Planning on riding atv from house to apps. Is this little bit of road riding going to be an issue? Also can you ride the lake from apps to Lewis point? Thanks

I've just recently started watching the barometer. I've all ways been one of those guys that has to go no matter what and maybe get lucky (or not).  seems to me that a falling pressure system is the time to be there. those blue bird days of high pressure just stink for me like tomorrow will be. I'm going out tomorrow and then again on Sat when the pressure will be falling. It's an experiment that I can't resist. would be interested to here other opinions. I'm neither a weather guru or an expert fisherman. I just like to eat fish.

Almost word for word the post I was writing. We're at 29.00 inHg now and rising. New study for me too.

Barometer is up from 29.5 to 30.5 in 36 hours. In your opinion is there a magic number? Under 30? Or is it just better if it's going down?

XC  I got a giggle out of that   that was good
I'm just trying to come up with some type of strategy that makes sense.  the fish know what it is so why shouldn't we?

We must be getting out of the hot bite phase when we start talking about the barometer.  ::)

I am going to paraphrase something Shane Mahar said about this topic many moons ago. "29.50 and below with a storm and the bite gets tough, above 30.5 for a couple days and the bite gets tough".

I love a falling baro before a storm. It is the only consistent thing I have found. SE wind maybe just before the rain hits.

That being said, they are ALWAYS biting somewhere. Every time I use the barometer or blue bird skies as an excuse, somebody talks about how they slammed the fish that day.
