I fish them mostly naked year round but when its tough in the winter they do hit better sometimes with a minnow head on the three way. Fresh dead or salted minnows work just fine, just pinch the head off.

Post by: eyeflyer on Dec 11, 2018, 04:12 PM: I use mostly the 2-3" size but it will change a bit depending on the size of the forage base in the lake. I almost always tip them with a minnow head, not sure if it makes them bite more but I think it makes them hold a bit longer/tighter due to the "taste". Front hooks have all been cut off the last few years, never ever caught one on the front hook before anyway and a way less hookups on the edge of the hole.
