Title: Lift hinge question
Post by: fishinnut on Apr 09, 2019, 10:01 AM
For you guys that have skis mounted to your fip overs with lift hinges how do you keep the hinges from openning while loading into a vehicle or while storing? Mine have a habit of popping open pretty easily.

I use four of these:   https://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-1-2-in-Zinc-Plated-Hook-and-Eye-3-Pack-15348/202034026

They are cheap and inexpensive.

I use those coffee table hinges but do have a 1"X3" board running the length of my EVO1IT.  Then i screw one of these hooks at each corner......

Thanks for the pics but I went a different direction. I used 1/4" hitch pins. One on each ski. While skis were in closed position I drilled thru a strut and thru the upper bracket. Push pin in when closed and pull it out so they open. If anyone would like to see pics I'll try to get them up.

Interesting....  I found this year that I didn't flip open/up the hinges anyway, but I'd be interested in pics....

vanhln, Here's pics of my answer to hinges opening when not needed. As you can see I have a different style hinge.
