What are you planning to do on the inside for heat?
I am going to use the woodstove that I built for it as well as a wall mounted propane heater.

According to ups teaming my solar pannels should be here some time tomorrow and then I can get them installed, which I am really looking forward to. I went and picked up some more paneling todayas well as the rest ofthe 1x6 to finish making the trim. I was looking at my options forcarpwt for the floor of the shack and I think I am going to go with some grey marine grade carpet.

the last solar pannel I put on had holes and mounting spacers with it and just screwed to the side of the shack if it dont have the holes u could pull the plastic cover off it and add holes as needed, auto parts stores sell the rubber grommet for running wiring from the outside it to keep it water tight or menards has larger grommets that are water tight also, your shack is looking great

I have just had a lot of other stuff on my plate lately. Bit I did get the rest of the pieces ( I think) to finish installing my woodstove. Hopefully I will get that done on Friday. And I have been having some second thoughts on how I want to setup my interior. Sorry for they lul in progression but I should be back at It soon.

I can understand all the caulk on that polebarn steel. I worked doing residential work for a polebarn building company.
What a pain trying to keep water from getting in the buildings. The worst part was when they put a chimney or vent out through the roof. Flash it and then try to keep the flashing from leaking from the high side. Or having the snow slide off the roof and flatten what is sticking out of the roof.

I always got stuck trying to fix the other guys mistakes

I got the front framed out, and I did decide not to put in a bathroom to save space.

I also built a mount for the solar panel and it is partialy removable for when traveling.

Oh yeah there are plans. I think I am going to go with cots that can be folded up and put away during the day. Me myself might just use a nice sleeping bag and one of those thick sleeping pads underneath, as the floor shouldn't get cold with how well insulated it is.

it would save a ton of space! The only upside to having at least a built in couch or bunk is the storage that you could put above/below it. But that's just my personal opinion

I get exactly what you are saying I thought the same thing when I built my first shack. But then I found out I did not like it at all how everything was permanent and could not be moved so in this shack I want to keep everything as mobile as possible and as much open floor space as I can. The only thing that will be permanent mounted is the woodstove the hole covers and the cabinets in the front. But I do get where you are coming from. With the storage space so I have designed a lot of overhead storage space in the form of cabinets and a big shelf on the opposite side from the woodstove over the big window.

My Dad built a 8 X 12 Shack to use as sleeping quarters and base camp while we were building our family cottage.  He made beds 75"X 30" that were attached to the wall with hinges and could be folded up out of the way during the day.  The shack also doubled as kitchen / dining room on rainy days.  A piece of 3/4 plywood folds up out of the way and takes up less space than a fold up cot.  Just saying.

Looking very nice. I think I would have a hard time leaving the ice if I built one like that.

i like that you have already installed the fire safety and have got that covered before you got to the finishing touches done, that shows that you know that everything is fun as long as everyone is safe and gets home. i know i myself, and others are taking notes during your epic build, and that little note reminds me to make sure my friends and family are safe in my creation. as of last year all i had was 02 detectors.. i had never even thought of putting fire extinguishers in my drop axle, how the heck did i not think of that!? ??? ???

I'm so envious of how awesome your shack is and it's not even done yet!  :woot:

Been so busy this summer.  Every time I turned around I had projects to do for other people.  I wanted to get the jeep payed off early, so most my extra funds went there.
