Title: Otters new quick snap Ice Anchor Tool
Post by: IceSavage on Oct 31, 2018, 03:38 PM
The new Otter quick snap ice anchor tool can fit into my 12 volt dewalt drill. Anyone think it the drill is powerful enough to drill in a Eskimo anchor in??  I normally use my regular 18v dewalt but have to disconnect it from my auger to attach my Eskimo anchor tool. Just looking to free up some time on the ice

I use the eskimo tool on my Otter XTH Pro Cabin Hub shelter anchors...

I've tried with my fathers 12V dewalt in order to keep my Makita chucked up to my auger...

I did wear it down faster that I expected...  I got to move 2 or 3 times and dead.

I no longer bring the Dewalt 12V...

Obviously amp hours of the battery and condition/newness and temperature play a VERY large part in this equation

i took a 3/8 drive deep well socket ,n, hammered it on the anchor tool , then     use a 3/8 speed wrench to drive them in. works real  well and real fast. wire

I did the same thing and the speed wrench is much easier on my old bones than the brace I was using first. At least my knees feel better.  ;)

Yep I used to use a speed wrench as well but taking the drill off my auger isn't but a couple of seconds since I don't use a clam plate.

Get the ION / Eskimo quick release. Same size shaft as the clam plate.

I was using a six gallon bucket to get back on my feet after being on my knees. lol Guess I could use my cordless drill and a few 12" extensions.

On a side note, they red quick release from Eskimo fits the Strikemaster augers. I have one on mine and switch out from the mag chipper drill to the lazer bit depending on if we are redrilling old holes or drilling fresh holes.

That looks like a better design than Clams. Bought 1 of their ice anchor bits but won't fit on all of mine. Need to have bare metal not coated. Those look like they with expand and accept a wide variety of anchors............... .....

I think the tool is great. I have an EVO2 and there are a lot of anchors to install. With the tool it is a snap.
