I just picked up a humminbir$ 385ci portable. Has anyone used this for ice with out the iceducer.  How did you set it up?

If you mean how to use the open water transducer, have you seen this video?

 
Maybe someday I'll think of something clever to write here...but I doubt it.

I used to use a pirhanamax unit with the same transducer. I used 1x2 to male a T shape 12"wide at the top and about 18" long. Mounted the transducer on the bottom and set the whole rig in the hole. I put the 1x2s together with a single bolt and lock washer so they could swivel for a little more compact storage. It worked well until it got caught on something in the sleigh and ripped the transducer cable. You can get an ice ducer for $80CDN here, probably $60USD and it's less likely to break since you can store it wrapped up with the unit. I now use the same unit as you in a portable bag with an ice ducer.

thats crazy, just loop the cord...no need for any transducer hanging contraption
