Lake Arthur 2019/2020
« on: Dec 17, 2019, 12:08 PM »
Went to check out the upper 528 launch today.  About an inch of ice right at the concrete boat launch.  There were a couple of small open spots towards the middle but most of it was iced over.  Temperatures in the teens the next couple of nights.  I'm starting to get excited!

I have the gear in the truck already. I feel like a kid before Christmas. With the next two nights in the teens there is a good chance it will lock up a lot of the lake but also leave a lot of dangerous ice. Be careful and spud your way if we get lucky enough to get out. I am sure it will not be even ice in most places.

First post here...

I live near Arthur.   I have been checking the 10 day forecast every day hoping for some colder lows and I've been starting to get depressed.   This is very welcome news.  The weather in the Muddy Creek valley hasn't been super great for ice building, so its great to hear this update!

BTW, I mostly ice fish on Arthur, Sugar, and Justus.  I'm hoping to do some exploring on Pymy and Conneaut this winter as well.  I'm looking forward to trying to pull some fat northerns from Connie through the ice.

Stopped to check out the ice today. Had around 3 inches at the Upper 528 Launch. There are some bare spots in the middle, which leads me to believe those would be thin spots, as they clearly were not frozen when we had the snow a couple days ago. Ice started getting thinner once I got about 20 feet off shore, at which point I turned and got back to land. Lake was frozen as far as the eye could see in both directions from the 528 bridge. At this point I'm not sure I would trust fishing. Hopefully what we have can at least survive the rain we're supposed to be getting this week.

I was there checking the ice conditions this morning and saw one dude way out in the middle of the muddy creek finger.  I walked 15 yards off 528 launch and got a little more than 3 inches.   I check McDaniels as well nothing great.   Didn't wet a line.

As others said I’ve as far as the eye can see, but doubt it’ll make it this week with the weather we’re supposed to get been wrong before though.  Still waiting for my carb kit to make it here for the old auger even though I should just log some OT and buy a new one.

Quite a few fellers were out last night.   I doubt the ice will survive today and tomorrow though.

Maybe if we get another freeze conditions will improve.   I sure hope so.   The edges were pretty bad ice farther out better off?   We shall see.

Raining hard when I left yesterday at 11:30am. Group out from the maples and 10 of us in shannon to the right of the church. 3-4 inches.

Yes, it has stayed ice covered.  We lost shore lines here and there other than that we kept the ice.
