I have never heard of a person drowning falling through the ice wearing a pfd life vest. $20 from bass pro,

 many can not afford A.A.

... but they can afford quads and snowmobiles worth thousands of $$$... and sonar units that cost twice the price of a AA suit.  ::)

You may not drown with a PFD on, but you could die of exposure if you can't pull yourself and your heavy water logged clothes back up onto the ice.

The AA suit will warm you back up on the walk back in after going thru the ice... a PFD will not.

Wow thank GOD you're okay.  ;)

....Does the Arctic Armour Plus version come in camo??? If not, is the extra lining a big deal? Also, anyone know where the heck to find a retailer in Manitoba?

I have AA and hope I never have to find out about how the flotation works. Nice warm suit though.

They have enough floatation material in 1 suit to float 3 adults.

The suit is light weight, warm, water and wind proof.

Some people will spends thousands of $$$ on quads, snowmobiles, and tackle... but balk at buying a $300 suit that will save their lives... it should be a must have for all that fish ice or cold water.

Here's a video.

I bought the ARmor plus & the tags say it'll float 280 lbs

I understand, but if you'll watch this video with the sound on the IDI rep states the suit has enough floation to float 3 adults.

For those of you that have tested it, what would happen if you went in the water wearing only the bibs. My opinion is that you would be inverted.  :woot:

ice dawg..I don't think you would be inverted...I think there is enough buoyancy to hold you on the top till you can grab hold of something .ie ice .... I personally keep my jacket on and zipped if not sure of ice conditions when setting up...

I bought mine 1 size larger so I could layer clothes under it. This is my third year wearing it and I love it. It blocks the wind. I do not use a shanty and fish in zero degrese weather + wind. It is very warm on a warm day.
Ice fishing is no catch and release sport.

What size did you get and what size do you wear? I was wondering what size i should get. I wear a size 36w 30L jean. I was thinking of getting an XL so i could wear sweat pants or something under it. Thanks for any info.

I was kind of leaning toward bobber. I have been on different forums where people seem to be buying only the bibs which I think could be bad in certain situations.

Can you set a price on your life? I bet your family would set it higher than the cost of the suit. I wouldn't fish without mine. I even wear it walleye fishing on the Detroit River in the spring when it's still cold.

I know the value of a dollar, wife's been unemployed almost 2 years now. She didn't think twice of the cost of my AA. She wants me to come home everyday, and so do my daughters.
Drill it, and they will come.

A one time payment of $300 is very cheap life insurance!

... or you can put it on a credit card and make 48 "Easy to Pay" payments of $10/month!!! ::)
